“Geography, her fourth album, is the first to exclusively feature Tate’s own compositions, which offer an eclectic but unified vision. And Geography marks Tate’s continued growth as a singer: with each album she emerges as an even more compelling and self-assured performer, by turns kittenish, sharp, sexy, and soulful, and fully equipped to convey all the moods and meanings in her songs.” ~ Neil Tesser, Grammy Award Winning Jazz Journalist, Chicagomusic.org

READ ALL ABOUT LINDA TATE:
Jazz vocalist, songwriter, and critically acclaimed recording artist, Linda Tate, will delight the audience with an entertaining performance featuring her original songs including selections from Geography, her recently released album, and new material she has composed over the past year. A native of Chicago and a citizen of the world, Linda’s songs are influenced by jazz, world, folk, and Latin musical styles. She provides her own unique perspective on universal themes and she infuses these songs with her heart and soul. Melody, rhythm, and wistful wordplay combine to pull you into a magnetic listening experience, and her mellow, rich voice will capture you in a magical place.
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Linda’s early musical experiences were shaped by her parents’ love of jazz. Linda is an accomplished performer who made her entrance onto the jazz stage with a flourish and has performed at many popular venues in musical ensembles ranging from duos to big bands. In 2008, she was recognized as one of the top jazz singers in “The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide” by Scott Yanow.
As a recording artist, poet, and composer, her debut CD on Southport Records, “We Belong Together,” is a collection of songs which expresses her musical vision and includes classic jazz masters and popular musical theater composers as well as the sultry Brazilian strains of Milton Nascimento and contemporary composers like Chick Corea. Her second CD on Southport Records, “Time, Seasons and the Moon,” was released in September, 2000 to critical acclaim. This mature collection features songs, which are varied in musical timbre and arrangement, and wind through themes of time, seasons and the moon. In October of 2003, she released her third CD, “We Speak Duke,” on Southport Records to an enthusiastic audience at the Chicago Cultural Center’s Claudia Cassidy Theatre. “We Speak Duke” is a magical journey into the music and essence of jazz master Duke Ellington. Her newest album, “Geography,” inspired by global travel is an exciting collection of her original songs. She has produced two music videos based on songs from the album, which can be viewed on her YouTube channel.
